RCB Accounting Department, Monday, May 19, 2025 2:45 PM:

As many of you know from recent media articles, IRS has is now facing unprecedented challenges in 2025.  All areas of IRS, and all personnel (from the Commissioner’s office down to entry level staff), have been impacted by these events. Since January of this year, the IRS workforce has significantly contracted with further staff reductions expected in coming months.  The operating divisions (LB&I Exam, SB/SE Exam & Collection, Appeals, Chief Counsel, Taxpayer Advocate Service) have all pulled back from outreach events for now.  Because of the uncertainty to IRS staffing, programs, policies, priorities, we cannot move forward with a May 2025 Working Together.

IRS Stakeholder Liaison thanks the NJ tax practitioner organizations, for their strong support of the Working Together Conference over the past two decades. I will keep our IRS partners updated on further developments and changes within the IRS as they occur.

Thank you
